Edward cabe coined the word magazine. The Arabic word 'Makhazin' is the root of the word magazine. Makhazin means storehouse-all bundled together in one package. Articles or illustrations based on entertainment, promotions, or instructive natures are compiled together periodically to form a magazine.

Structure of magazine

Essays, stories, poems, articles, fiction, recipes, images, etc. All are a part of the magazine. Magazines showcase better, In-depth insights and analysis of any subject than a newspaper, gazette, pamphlet, brochure, etc.

Publishing of magazine

Magazines are often published weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or quarterly. Most of the magazines are colored on unique coated papers. They are bound in the same coated paper softcover. Magazines are made visually appealing to attract an audience. Different companies sponsor magazines, also. These magazines offer advertisers the to spread awareness and knowledge about their products to the audience.

A brief history of Magazines

Edward Cave published the First English magazine. It was named gentleman magazine, founded in 1731. It was composed of essays, poems, stories, and political reflections.

Andrew Bradford owned American magazine, America's first magazine, in 1741, accompanied by Benjamin Franklin's General Magazine.

 The first magazine for young girls, the young Misses Magazine, appeared in 1806.

The first most renowned American women’s magazine was Godey’s

In 1830, Lady’s  Book was published.

 

Types of Magazines

Hundreds of thousands of magazines are available worldwide. They aspire, reform, entertain and educate people throughout the world. Language and targeted audience classify magazines. There are different genres of magazines: popular magazines give a complete overview of the topics, scholarly journals bring insights into research findings to light, and trade magazines provide the depths of industrial trends and new products launched in the market.
